Friderday

October 30, 2008

I just like these graphics that nabiis makes…

Anyway, there are a couple of things going on this Friday.  It happens to be Halloween.

There’s an Alleycat in Lawrence.

Critical Mass Topeka…. if anyone’s riding… is running at 5:30 at the Boobie Trap.

So far, it looks like we’re taking a truck and a car to Lawrence at about 4:15 or 4:30 on Friday.  Get in touch via Facebook if you’re interested in coming.  We’ll also be joining the Lawrence Critical Mass later on Friday night.

New ground broken

October 28, 2008

A note from Reyna, our blind friend who rode with Critical Mass last Friday:

It was quite fun biking on Friday! I thought everyone from Cider to you to me did a terrific job. And it was very freeing to be out on the smooth, open road, out in the happenings of a not-so-big city and just enjoying an evening on two wheels. I definitely want to do it again!

Scary Larry video

October 27, 2008

So, there’s a video for the Scary Larry Alleycat race in Lawrence.  It’s just race details in video format… I was really hoping for some tricks and stuff spliced in… but I guess we’ll have to wait until race day to get that footage!

Supermarket Street Sweep

October 27, 2008

(In San Francisco) This seems like a really cool event.  It’s an Alley Cat race where you have to get stuff from five different grocery stores, and donate it all to the SF food bank.  Rad!

New time for Critical Mass!

October 24, 2008

5:30 tonight, meet up at the same place: 6th and Washburn, Boobie Trap parking lot.

Ride like the cold, cold wind!

Breaking new ground

October 22, 2008

It could be an interesting ride this Friday:  we may have a blind rider with us.  Her name is Anne Osborne, and you may know her by name as a talented wordsmith for the Capital-Journal, and formerly the Washburn Review.  She rides a lot with her dogs, but hasn’t hit the city streets before.

It’s pretty cool that we have had babies ride in trailers, kids ride little bikes, middle-aged folks ride their old cruisers, and all kinds of people in between come along for the Critical Mass bike rides.  Just goes to show that riding bikes in the city is fun!  Get your friends to come along.

Ride time is TBD this week – some people were saying it’s a good time to switch to 5:30.  Thoughts?

10-28 Correction: She would like to be called Reyna.

Ride tonight!

October 17, 2008

6pm, 6th and Washburn
Meet up at the Boobie Trap Bar parking lot… we’ll ride from there.

Apparently, there’s a faculty art opening at the Mulvane tonight… so that’s an option.  Another option is Anchondo at the Boobie Trap.  It should be a pretty fun show.

Bring lights and reflectors and warm clothes!  See you there!

CMT made it to the Kansas Cyclist web site!

October 15, 2008

Another press mention, thanks to the Washburn Review article on Critical Mass Topeka!

Kansas Cyclist ran part of the Review’s story, and threw in a hyperlink.

But more than that, we have our own page on the Kansas Cyclist site, complete with RSS feed!
