Nice weather lately…

March 29, 2008

We had a turnout of five for the sunny (but cold) ride yesterday.  The downtown route worked just fine, and we took MacVicar back instead of Lane. Yeah!

As a side note, we’ve had lots of different riders, even though we’ve only ever had a maximum of 8.  But never any less than 5!  For a total, I’d say at least 10 different riders.

Also, on this last ride, we all kind of agreed that 5:30 is a nice time for the ride, so that is likely the time it will stay throughout the summer.

CRITICAL MASS FRIDAY, MARCH 28

March 27, 2008

Same route as the last time – let’s show off downtown.

Meet at 5:30 p.m. at 6th and Washburn. We’ll ride 6th street to Kansas Ave., Kansas Ave. to 21st, 21st to Washburn (or maybe to Gage, depending on how everyone’s feeling), and from there back to 6th and Lane and the Boobie Trap… and then maybe a stopover for a beer after the ride.

At this point the weather looks decent, so we should be in for a pleasant ride.

And if you can’t be there at 5:30, try to catch us somewhere along the way!

Don’t forget: safety gear, reflectors, bright colors, and friends… and maybe a couple of bucts for a drink after the ride.

We normally roll at a pretty comfortable pace – so don’t be intimidated if you’re not a regular rider.  This is just a fun event!  Also, if you don’t have a bike… or if your tires are flat… talk to Karl, he might have a spare he could loan you for the ride.

Yeah!

Critical Mass 2/29/08

A great Leap Day ride!

Lovely weather, and a turnout of eight. The new route was fun, but seemed a little short.  Cruising through downtown is cool, despite the lack of traffic.  Maybe Topeka Blvd to Gage or Fairlawn next time.

At the end of the ride, a few of us helped push a minivan across 6th street to a gas station.  What a perfect example of some Critical Mass ideals!

Afterward, a few of us had a round at Painkillers.  It was Donna’s birthday party (she’s the owner) and she was giving out lots of hugs.
